I have been flying rc helicopters for many years and have been looking for a new 6 channel model. I didnt want to follow the flock of sheep any buy an Align T-REX, I wanted something different and a helicopter not everyone else on the flying field would have.
After much research I decided on the KDS 450QS RC Helicopter bought from www.r-c.uk which cost me £229.99 including delivery to my door which was the cheapest price online.
|Rotor Diameter||715mm (28.1″)|
|Battery||2200mAh 11.1v Li-Po|
As you can see this is a standard 450 series helicopter with a 2200mah Li-PO which should provide plenty of power.
The thing that really sets the KDS model apart and one of the main reasons I bought it was that it comes with a pretty cool advanced computer transmitter which can store up to 8 models so if i wanted to buy a rc plane for example i could buy a separate KDS receiver and use the same TX keeping my future hobby costs down.
After flying the KDS RC Helicopter for a month I have been really impressed by this model, for the price the equipment such as the transmitter, receiver, gyro and motor are really good quality – sure i would like to upgrade the gyro and tail servo for something more high end but as a budget beginners helicopter you can not go wrong with this model.
The kit comes with a standard 7.4v/11.1v lipo charger which takes 3-4 hours to charge the 2200mah battery supplied with the KDS. I would recommend getting a rapid charger from the off which will cost you around £50.00 but you will charge the battery in 30 mins. Definitely alot better than waiting round for 4 hours. Spare batteries are also reasonable for this model, you can get them for £15-£20 each, so its a good idea to get a couple of spare in.
All parts are available online for this model and in some model shops, a set of blades (Carbon) will set you back £7.99 – again fantastic value and really giving the TREX boys something to think about.
That completes my review of this helicopter – if you have any questions or comments you would like to share drop me an email and I will add to the blog post.
